What began as a stage lit up with music and meaning has grown into a continent-shaping movement.
In 2017, our co-founder Akinade Ibuoye — widely known as Gaise Baba — launched the LightOut High School Initiative, a value-driven school outreach that used music, art, and youthful energy to spark conversations on climate action, recycling, and personal responsibility.
Through 22 purpose-driven concerts and school events, LightOut reached over 31,000 students across Nigeria, embedding climate awareness and moral education into the hearts of tomorrow’s leaders. The initiative wasn’t just a campaign, it became a movement endorsed by institutions like the German Consulate in Lagos, supported by the Lagos State Government, and aligned with global goals like SDGs 3, 4, and 12.
But we knew the story couldn’t end there.

Vercredx is the next chapter — a bold response to Africa’s greatest opportunity and challenge: climate transformation through carbon equity.
Rooted in the same values that powered LightOut, Vercredx was born to go beyond awareness and build systems of tangible, trackable climate value. Our mission is simple yet ambitious: to regenerate nature while enriching lives and turning Africa’s land into verified carbon credit projects that empower communities and protect our planet.
We are currently developing a portfolio of afforestation and forest conservation projects across Nigeria and broader Africa. Our long-term vision is to manage over 3 million acres of land, generating high-integrity carbon credits certified by bodies like Verra and Gold Standard.

- Healthcare Access
Via mobile clinics and wellness support for remote forest communities.
- Solar and Water Infrastructure Clean water systems and solar energy bring stability to the off-grid locations where we operate.
- Local Employment in Forest Management Including jobs in planting, monitoring, land care, and eco-enterprise operations.
- Climate Education Through Entertainment Expanding the LightOut model into morally uplifting, value-based edutainment across schools and communities.
